Ray Ryder is fast becoming one of Australia's hot new country artists. He is gaining attention for his southern country rock style music, and dynamic live performances.
Fun, humble and a little cheeky Ryder's personality will make you feel like his best friend and someone you love to hang with.
Known as one of the hardest working musicians in town Ryder is a seasoned professional whose music and merchandise are being snapped up as he tours extensively. His songs have charted in the top ten on community radio and social media platforms, and he is now being asked to play at many of the larger events and festivals across Australia. Recently he was chosen to join some of the biggest names in Australian country music, pop and rock in the line-up for the 2017 Birdsville Big Red Bash. Ryder was the first WA act to be imported into The Bash joining headliners Lee Kernaghan, Missy Higgins, James Reyne, Mark Seymour Ian Moss, Kate Ceberano, Russell Morris and others. In 2018 he was billed as a headline act along with The McClymonts and Travis Collins for the annual Boyup Brook Country Music Festival.
Ryder studied music from a young age at Western Australia's Metropolitan Conservatorium of music learning several instruments, music theory, drama and singing. He started his music career along side former members of the successful 60's era groups The Four Kinsman and Troupadores. Ryder was as a proud member and original founder of the group One Step Ahead (also known as OSA Rock), which were Australia's most sort after touring show band. The band gained popularity when they were double billed to tour with the internationally acclaimed American Drifters. This then led to sharing the stage with the likes of Sting, Chris Isaak, Bryan Ferry, John Farnham, Shirley Basey, James Morrison, Screaming Jets and others. It was during his time as a cover musician Ryder mastered his skills as an entertainer and learnt the art of song writing. After reaching all his goals as a professional cover musician he decided to go out on his own and pursue his solo career as an original artist.
2016 saw the completion of Ryder's self titled debut studio album. With the entire album written, sung, played, recorded and produced by Ryder listeners get a chance to enjoy a rare multi instrumentalist powering his way through catchy guitar and banjo driven southern county rock tunes. Following the release of his album Ryder undertook a massive 60+ date tour with over 20,000km on the road as he travelled Australia with his 'Bringin' It The Country' Tour. During his concert appearances Ryder also hosted free all ages community workshops helping people connect with music.
The mammoth national tour gained Ryder many new fans Australia wide, as well as gave him the chance to trial several new songs for his recently released EP - 'Take Myself Back'. The EP follows Ryder's much lauded debut album, with all his songs recorded in Underground Studios and mixed and produced by Golden Guitar winner Jared Adlam. Together they have crafted four songs that combine Ryder's southern rock, rock 'n' roll and country rock influences with his organic and raw song writing style.
Ryder's intention is to take all his music on the road with his band and give people a power house night of hot southern country rock music. Everyone is encouraged to support Ryder and his love for keeping music alive and real.
All of Ray Ryder's songs are available on ITunes, Spotify, Amazon and others.
